The Brief:
A small authentic Mexican restaurant now sells food from a food truck and wants new branding that matches the ‘crazy’ personality of the owner especially in its colour scheme. The business requested a Primary and Secondary logo, a menu card design and packaging design but I went ahead and designed their food truck graphics too!
My Ideas / Process:
- to match the fun and ‘crazy’ personality of the owner I thought it would be fun to not only choose a funky colour scheme but pair it up with a fun mascot, replicating the style of old cartoons
- the mascot wears a halo and has an innocent expression to convey the ‘holy’ aspect and of course is a taco to fully express the brand’s identity in an easily recognisable image
- to establish a crazy colour scheme I looked to the Disney Pixar film, Coco for inspiration as it’s set within the Mexican culture and has a beautiful, wild colour palette that deeply inspired me especially with its strong orange tone from the leaves!
- the style of logo itself was inspired by other fast food companies such as McDonald’s and Burger King and the smaller businesses popping up in Cardiff
